Access to safe and clean water remains a significant challenge for many communities across Bangladesh. Despite its extensive network of rivers and abundant seasonal rainfall, the country faces ongoing water-related issues due to contamination, salinity intrusion, flooding, and the impacts of climate change. In many rural areas, families rely on unsafe water sources affected by arsenic contamination and poor sanitation, while rapidly growing urban populations place increasing pressure on existing water infrastructure. This lack of reliable access to clean water threatens public health, limits economic opportunities, and disproportionately affects vulnerable communities already facing hardship.

As part of our ongoing commitment to addressing water insecurity in Bangladesh, we aim to continue installing deep water wells and expanding access to safe, clean drinking water for vulnerable communities across the country. Building on the success of previous projects, our goal is to reach more families living in areas affected by water contamination, salinity, flooding, and inadequate infrastructure.
By increasing access to reliable water sources, we can help reduce the burden of waterborne diseases, improve health outcomes, and enhance the quality of life for thousands of people. Through these sustainable water solutions, we strive to create lasting change, empowering communities and supporting their long-term well-being and development.

Yes. Once your water well has been successfully completed, Emaan Relief will provide photographs of the finished well, a video showing the well in use, and images of the personalised plaque displaying your chosen dedication. These are typically sent via WhatsApp to the mobile number provided at the time of donation.
The lifespan of a water well depends on factors such as the type of well, its depth, environmental conditions, and ongoing maintenance. A well-maintained hand pump can serve a community for over 7 years, while deeper wells may remain operational for 10 years or more. Emaan Relief works with local communities to provide basic maintenance training, helping to ensure the well continues to benefit people for many years.
Emaan Relief incorporates long-term support into its water well programmes. Each well site is typically overseen by a trained local caretaker or community maintenance committee responsible for routine upkeep. If an issue arises that cannot be resolved locally, it is escalated to Emaan Relief for assessment and repair. Repair coverage is included for the first 2 years following construction.
Yes. The precise GPS coordinates of your water well can be provided upon request.
Construction timelines vary depending on the country, location, terrain, and type of well selected. Most wells are completed within 8-12 weeks. In some locations, where additional site assessments, water testing, or local authority approvals are required, completion may take up to 6 months.
Yes. Every water well includes a plaque displaying your chosen name or dedication. The plaque will be clearly visible in the photographs provided upon completion. Please note that inscriptions are limited to a maximum of 50 characters, including spaces, although we recommend keeping dedications to 30 characters or fewer for the best presentation.
Yes. Plaques can be produced in a variety of languages. Simply provide your preferred wording and language when making your donation. The same character limits apply regardless of language, so shorter inscriptions are recommended to ensure clarity.
Yes. Donors are welcome to visit their water well. Upon request, Emaan Relief can provide the well's location details. Visiting your well can be a rewarding experience, allowing you to see first-hand the impact of your donation and meet the community benefiting from clean water.
You will receive an email confirmation once your donation has been received. After this, please allow up to 12 weeks for completion. Donations made during Ramadan may take up to 16 weeks due to increased demand. Upon completion, you will receive photographs and video footage documenting the project, from the initial groundwork through to the finished well.
The cost of constructing a water well varies from country to country due to differences in material costs, labour costs, transportation, accessibility, and local ground conditions. Some areas require deeper drilling or more complex construction methods, which can affect the overall cost.
The depth of a water source depends on local ground conditions and water availability. As a general guide:
Yes. You may sponsor a hand pump in the name of a loved one, either as a gift or as a form of Sadaqah Jariyah. A personalised plaque can be installed displaying their name or dedication.
The number of beneficiaries varies depending on the location of the installation. A hand pump installed for a single needy family may benefit approximately 5-7 people. However, pumps installed in communal areas, schools, mosques, or villages can provide clean water to significantly larger numbers of people each day.
